A year after launching my website for professional purposes, I’ve decided to incorporate my writing here as well and move all my digital content into one platform. I don’t plan to update Digressions on a regular schedule anymore. Instead, I’ll “digress” here. A lot of it will be about the books I’m reading and literary events in my hometown, and there will certainly be top-quality dog content that my Digressions readers have come to know and love.
Am I breaking the cardinal rule of keeping your professional life separate from hobbies? You bet I am. But if you read my “About Me” page, you know that everything I do–everything–somehow relates to words and information. My professional life and hobbies are so intertwined, it’s hard to tell the difference sometimes! So it doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to try to compartmentalize work in one place and hobbies in another.
And it will be great for potential clients to get a sense of my personality. Can I return a thorough, creative edit that strengthens your writing while respecting your voice on schedule? No question. Can I include a dorky-yet-hilarious joke about dog poo in the cover email? Yes. Yes, I can. (Only on request! I promise!)
This is a bit unorthodox. But, then, in some ways, so am I.
